Introduction
Satchel Paige was an extremely talented baseball pitcher, but because he was a Negro and was born in the early 1900’s, he was not given the opportunity to play in the Major Leagues until later in his life. America was a racist society at this point in history. Satchel Paige faced this terrible, evil thing, and did something about it. He was so fun to watch, that black and white people alike loved to attend the games in which he pitched. He made whites look at him as a person, not just a black person. Paige opened the door for others and was an example for those who came along later. Satchel Paige struck out segregation, and helped the fight for racial equality.
